#Mini-Reviews: Wayward Children Series (Books 1-3)

I have had Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire on my shelf for ages and I figured it was about time that I picked it up, dusted it off, and crossed it off my TBR. Little did I know that it would cause me to fall down the rabbit hole (semi-pun intended) and read the rest of the series as well! Here are my little mini-reviews of each book in the series so far!

Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire

This is another one of those books that has been on my TBR for way too long. Considering its short length, you think I would have had the time to pick this one up sooner than I did.

I’m really glad I finally got around to picking this one up. It was just as fantastic as the hype made it seem it would be!

All I knew going into this one was that it was about a special group home for kids who had entered portals into magical worlds, but then ended up back here on earth and are devastated. Think Narnia and Alice in Wonderland.

What I wasn’t expecting was the murder mystery filled with a cast of diverse characters. This story was fantastic and I’m so eager to read the next two companion books!

Down Among The Sticks & Bones by Seanan McGuire

I finished the first novel in this little series the other day and I just had to instantly jump into the second one! Now I’m already jumping into the third!

These books are fantastic and entertaining!

I loved that this second novel jumped into the backstory of two of the characters that we met in the first book. I loved to learn more about their world and what happened to them that they were cast out.

I’m really enjoying these books and I’m disappointed in myself for not reading them sooner!

Beneath The Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire

I really enjoyed learning about new characters this time around! I love that the characters all feel realistic and believable.

We also get to see a few of the different worlds belonging to some of the wayward children. It was fun to see a group of characters go on an adventure together this time around!

This one was probably my least favourite of the three novels out so far, but I still really enjoyed it and I’m excited for the next novel to be released!

Maria's Rating - 4.5-01

Overall, this entire series so far has been absolutely solid! I’m loving the different worlds and the variety of characters! I can’t wait for the next novels in the series to be released!

Thank you for reading!
