Weekly Catch-Up: Issue #23 – Books, Music, Television & Life Update!

I’d like to preface this post by acknowledging how terrible of a blogger I’ve been this week. Okay, with that out of the way, here is my weekly update!

As mentioned above, I have literally been the worst blogger this past week. I haven’t made any posts and I’ve barely read anything. I’m not sure why I’m in such a slump, but I just can’t bring myself to be as productive as I usually am.

Work has been pretty crazy for about the past 2 weeks and I’m not sure if maybe that is a a contributing factor? By the time I get home I’m so drained and all I want to do is watch tv or youtube videos. Hopefully I can snap out of this slump really soon.

In other news, in preparation for my vacation in March, and due to just general interest, I’ve been trying to teach myself Korean thanks to many apps and online lessons. So far it’s going pretty well and I now have all the different characters and their sounds memorized. I also have a few basic words memorized! I’m pretty serious about this and I hope I can work had enough to become fluent one day.

Recently Finished: Game by Barry Lyga & No.6 Vol.1 by Atsuko Asano

I recently finished the sequel to I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga, Game, and oh my gosh I am loving this series. It haas me completely hooked and I can’t wait to read the finally book in the trilogy! I need to know how this one ends ASAP! I also read the first volume of No.6 the manga by Atsuko Asano! I took a gamble with this one while not really knowing much about it and I ended up really enjoying it! It gave me The Giver & The Hunger Games vibes which I wasn’t expecting. I’d love to continue with this series as well!

Currently Reading: The Temptation Of Adam by Dave Connis & Release by Patrick Ness

I am currently reading two books at the moment! The first being an ARC of The Temptation Of Adam by Dave Connis that was generously provided to me by Thomas Allen & Son! I’m about half way through this story and so far so good! It definitely has some darker themes which I really enjoy when it comes to contemporaries. Speaking of which, the second book I’m currently reading is Release by Patrick Ness. So far this one is really strange and basically feels like two different stories being told within the same book. I’m almost done and so far we’ve seen small instances in how these stories are related. It might just be that they barely are. Who knows? I should find out later today when I hopefully finish it up!

Next Up: Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix & Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero

Next up, I’m hoping to read two books that are more on the spooky side which would be ideal for the month of October! Spook-a-thon also starts next week and I’d like to knock out a few books on that TBR list if at all possible. The first book I’d like to pick up next would have to be Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix. This book has been on my TBR for a long time now and I absolutely loved his novel My Best Friend’s Exorcism, so I’m thinking that I’ll really like this one! I also would love to pick up Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero. I only recently spotted this one at a book store and I loved its cover so I added it to my TBR list! I’m definitely a cover buyer, so I hope this one is worth it!

Recently Watched: N/A

Still haven’t watched an new films, but I have been watching a lot of TV as you’ll see below!

Currently Watching: This Is Us Season 2, Star Trek Discovery, American Horror Story Season 7, Mindhunter Season 1 & Riverdale Season 2

Well, I’ve been on a roll lately when it comes to watching television. A lot of my favourites are back, as well as a lot of new ones that I wanted to check out! I’ve been catching up on This Is Us with my mom, but I think we’re still an episode behind! Gotta catch up on that one soon! I’ve also been watching Star Trek: Discovery with my parents and we’re also behind an episode on that one! I’m already falling behind, what else is new? A show I am caught up on though is American Horror Story: Cult. I’m not sure how I’m feeling about this season so far, but American Horror Story is just one of those shows that leaves so many questions unanswered that I need to keep watching until the end. I also started watching Mindhunter on Netflix and I’m not sure how I feel about that one yet either. I’m not loving it as much as I thought I would so far. I am only 2 episodes in though, so I think I’ll give it more of a chance before I dismiss it. I also just watched the first episode of Riverdale and I’m excited for it to be back!

Next Up: Stranger Things Season 2 & The Walking Dead Season 8

Who else is super amped for the new season of Stranger Things?! I literally will not be leaving my house until I have binged the entire thing. I absolutely cannot wait! I’m also pretty excited about the return of The Walking Dead! I’m actually pretty proud of myself for keeping up with all of these seasons without falling behind! It’s been a favourite of mine for a while now and I can’t wait to see what happens to the gang in this new season!

Currently Listening To: Teenager by GOT7

Actually listening to the whole album, but I’m really feeling this song at the moment! Jackson’s deep and raspy vocals though…😍

As always, thank you for reading!
