Weekly Catch-Up: Issue #22 – Books, Music, Television & Life Update!

weeklycatchup

It was Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, therefore this post is going up a little late, but I figured a late life update is better than no life update!

LIFE

This week was actually a relatively quiet one until the weekend hit. Other than my regular 9-5 work life, not much really happened. The NHL regular season has returned which means my beloved Toronto Maple Leafs are back in action! I have high hopes for this season and so far, they have not left me down…however, we are only 3 games in.

On Saturday, my mom and I decided to take a little mini trip up to Niagara-On-The-Lake to check out an outlet mall in the area! I didn’t buy much, just a Yuri!!! On Ice sweater that I found at Hot Topic and had a coupon for. Other than that, the deals weren’t all that magical, but the weather was great and it was fun to get away for a little. We also stopped at another mall on our way home and once again, I couldn’t really find anything there, but it was still fun to be able to spend a full day “kind-of” shopping.

Sunday was relatively quiet as well. We visited my grandmother for a little bit which was nice, but other than that we had another chill day at home.

Monday brought along Canadian Thanksgiving! We keep it low-key on Thanksgiving with my family nowadays so it was just my mom, dad and sister who sat around for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner! We later invited some neighbours over to have some desert and watch the Leafs / Blackhawks game! What a game it was, we were down 3-1 until the third period where we tied it up and won in overtime! Did I mention that I have high hopes this year?!

BOOKS

autoboyography

Recently Finished: Autoboyography by Christina Lauren

For the little amount that I did throughout the week, you’d think I would have had time to read more…which I totally did, but instead I totally slacked off. The only book that I managed to finish in the past week was Autoboyography by Christina Lauren. While it was the only book that I was able to finish, I absolutely LOVED it. You can check out my full review here.

nowheregirls

Currently Reading: The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed, Game by Barry Lyga & The Temptation Of Adam by Dave Connis

I tried starting The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed last week and for whatever reason I just couldn’t seem to get through it. I haven’t DNF’d it yet, but I decided to move on to something else for now as I may just not have been in the right mood for it at the moment. I did start Game by Barry Lyga and oh my god, it is just as good if not better than I Hunt Killers! I’m still very much hooked and this book definitely did not fall into the second book slump category. So so so good. I have also started The Temptation Of Adam by Dave Connis and I will be a part of the blog tour for that one very soon, so stay tuned!

release

horrorstor

Next Up: Release by Patrick Ness & Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix

At the moment, I’m trying to keep up with both new releases and my October/SpookAThon TBR which includes all kinds of spooky October releases! This week I hope to finally read Release by Patrick Ness as well as Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix which has been on my TBR for a very long time now!

FILM

Recently Watched: N/A

Yeah. This section has been a bit boring as of late. I haven’t really watched much in terms of films, but I have been getting back into watching some television shows recently! See below for all of that news!

TELEVISION

Currently Watching: This Is Us Season 2, Star Trek Discovery & American Horror Story Season 7

The Fall TV season is upon us and it seems like all of the television shows are coming back! I’ve started watching This Is Us season 2 with my mom recently and man, it seems as though it’s going to be just as emotional, if not more so, than season 1! I’ve also started watching Star Trek Discovery with both of my parents. My dad raised me a trekkie so it’s only right that we watch this series together. I’ve also been keeping up with American Horror Story which is REALLY over the top this season, but it’s starting to finally come together after about 5 episodes.

Next Up: Mindhunter, Stranger Things Season 2, Riverdale Season 2 & The Walking Dead Season 8

So many shows, so little time! October is bringing us all of the spooky shows and I’m honestly so stoked. I mean, look at this line up! Mindhunter seems like something that is completely up my alley! I can’t wait for it to drop on Netflix! I’m also super stoked about both Stranger Things Season 2 and Riverdale Season 2, both also dropping on Netflix this month! October seems like a peak month for Netflix in my opinion! Also dropping this month is The Walking Dead Season 8 which I can’t believe is already on its eighth season…damn. Other honourable mentions include The Good Doctor, but I think I’m going to wait for the season to end and judge by reviews whether or not to binge that one. I’m also interested in catching up on Mr. Robot season 2 so I can watch season 3 as it airs this month. We’ll see though as my schedule is looking pretty jammed!

MUSIC

Currently Listening To: You Are by GOT7

LOOK AT THESE BEAUTIFUL BOYS IN THIS AESTHETIC AF NEW MUSIC VIDEO.

There you have it, my semi-late Weekly Wrap Up! What have you read, watched & been up to this past week?

As always, thank you for reading!
