Weekly Catch-Up: Issue #11

weeklycatchup

It’s time for another weekly update! Keep reading to find out the books I read this past week as well as what I plan on reading next! I also mention both films and television series that I have been watching. But first, let’s start with a quick life update!

Life

On Tuesday, a concert that I have been looking forward to for quite a while now finally happened! I bought the tickets to see Queen with Adam Lambert in February and it has definitely been a long wait, but it was well worth it! My sister and I had seen them live once before almost three years ago now and it was amazing. I thought there was no way that they would be able to top it and they definitely proved me wrong! The show was obviously amazing! If you want to see more than just the little snippet above, here is a vlog my sister made of the entire evening!

Other than that, some highlights from this week include golfing at work! Yes you heard that right! Each function (Marketing, Sales etc.) were in charge of creating a unique golf hole in the office for the rest of the employees to golf at! Our team created a 20s/Great Gatsby themed hole, but the best one was definitely a Mario Kart/Rainbow Road concept. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon at work! I love that they’re trying to incorporate more of a work/life/fun balance!

I also went to see Spider-man: Homecoming on Friday! I’m pretty sure I may be in the minority when I say that I thought it was kind of just meh? It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t really amazing either. I don’t know, I just felt a little indifferent towards it. It felt like more of a bridge to connect this Spiderman to the rest of the Marvel/Avengers universe. There was just a little something that was missing.

I also had fun at a friend’s baby shower yesterday! It was a pretty fun little gathering of friends with food and games! I even won myself a flask! It was definitely a good time!

Books

Recently Finished: Literally nothing.

I hit a slump, but I’m hoping to fix that this upcoming week! Someone please motivate me!

Currently Reading: Girl In Snow by Danya Kukafka & Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

I just started reading Girl In Snow by Danya Kukafka and I’m really excited to be picking up a psychological thriller again! This is one of my favourite genres and so far so good! I’ve also been listening to Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff and it’s definitely a very different experience listening to these books rather than physically reading them. I do have the hard copy as well though for all of the images and visuals that come with this story!

Currently On Hold: The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell

Here we have the reason for my slump. It took me over a week to get to page 100 of The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell which tells me that I clearly needed to switch some things up! It’s not that the story was bad, I was actually enjoying it…but I just wasn’t in the right mood for this genre at the moment. I may have to re-visit this one as an audiobook at a later date.

Next Up: Are You Sleeping by Kathleen Barber & Project Pandora by Aden Polydoros

I’m really excited to pick up both Are You Sleeping by Kathleen Barber and Project Pandora by Aden Polydoros as my next two reads! One is another psychological thriller while the other is more of a sci-fi mystery! Can’t wait to see what both of these are all about!

Film

Recently Watched: Spider-man: Homecoming

So, I recently watched Spider-Man: Homecoming and I feel like I’m in the minority in thinking that this was just an okay movie. It didn’t really do much for me. I’m not saying it was bad, cause it wasn’t…but it was just lacking something for me personally.

Up Next: Valerian

I’ve been talking about wanting to see Valerian for a while now, but now that reviews are out…I’m thinking this may be more of a wait till it hits DVD/Netflix type of movie. I love Dane DeHaan, but I’m just not sure this movie is worth paying to see in theatres unfortunately.

Television

Currently finished binging: Not really binging anything at the moment.

game-of-thrones-night-king-featured

Currently watching/binging: Shadowhunters + Sailor Moon + Game Of Thrones

I’m still keeping up with Shadowhunters and I’m still questioning myself as to why, but whatever…it’s a guilty pleasure I guess. I’m still slowly working my way through re-watching Sailor Moon and I mean SLOWLY. I’m trying to savour everything this time around! I also watched the first episode of the new season of Game of Thrones last week and omg I’m so hyped for this season!

kingdom1

Next Up: Kingdom

I keep mentioning Kingdom each week and I don’t know why I haven’t started yet. It’s one of my all-time favourite shows and this is the final season. Maybe I’m procrastinating for that very reason. I just don’t ever want it to end.

Music

Currently listening to: G-Dragon

Gotta prep myself for the concert next weekend by listening to G-Dragon! Also, is it really that shocking that I’m STILL listening to K-POP?

There you have it! My weekly update for the past week!

Thank you for reading!

    1. Ahh! Let me know how it was! Probably worth seeing in 3D, but I’ve heard some pretty bad reviews unfortunately 😦

      1. The first time Valerian showed up, my friend was like “ugh”. She hated him hahaha I think the movie isn’t terrible but it also isn’t good. If you sit there wondering how much longer it goes on, you just know it won’t be one of your faves. I loved Rihanna’s scenes and Cara was really badass. But Valerian and Laureline’s relationship is strange and didn’t feel natural always. It felt like a mix between Avatar and Star Wars.

      2. LOL really?! I love Dane DeHaan, so he owuld be like the main reason I watch it at this point! 😛

Yeah, someone mentioned that Dane & Cara looked like siblings and now I can’t unsee it.

Well, we’ll see if I end up seeing it or not! I think I may actually end up seeing Atomic Blonde today instead! 😛

      3. I saw it yesterday, although it was a tad hard to follow, it was really beautifully shot! I loved the aesthetic of the whole thing! 😀
