#Top10Tuesday: Best Reads of 2017 So Far!

Top10Tuesday

It’s time for another Top 10 Tuesday!!! For those of you who don’t know, Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the folks over at The Broke and the Bookish! This week we were tasked with choosing our top ten reads of the year so far! I decided to choose mine based on my star ratings! I had a few select 5 star reads this year, but majority have been 4s and 3.5s. This list was pretty easy to put together, but I assume it will change by the end of the year! Without further ado, here are my top 10 reads of the year so far!

Enjoy!

5 STARS

deadlyclass_vol05-1

Deadly Class, Vol.5 by Rick Remender

I don’t think I have ever given any volume of Deadly Class lower than a 5 star rating. This is my all-time favourite comic series and I was highly anticipating this new volume this year! It definitely did not disappoint and I think it may be one of the best volumes so far! I highly recommend this series if you haven’t read it yet!

A Conjuring Of Light by V.E. Schwab

I’m pretty sure that everyone was anticipating this one this year! The third and final book in the Shades Of Magic series did not disappoint and it was a solid finale! I’m sad that it’s over, but this book definitely deserved a 5 star rating!

motorcrush_01-1
Motor Crush, Vol.1 by Brendan Fletcher

This one was unexpected for me! I had learned about Motor Crush through an event with Indigo Teen and I decided to check it out. I read issue #1 and immediately needed to read the rest! I absolutely LOVED this first volume and I can’t wait to see where the story goes!

Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner

After reading The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner, I knew I needed to read anything else that he would write in the future. I pre-ordered Goodbye Days the second I hear about it and I’m so glad that I did. I’m not a cryer when it comes to reading books, but man…this one had me on the verge of tears.

4.75 STARS

beartown-9781501163104_lg

Beartown by Fredrik Backman

Honestly, Beartown is also basically a 5 star rating for me as well. The only reason for knocking off a few points was the slow start. Other than that, this book was amazing. It’s still on my mind after reading it a few months ago. Definitely a future re-read.

4.5 STARS

Eliza And Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

Ugh. This book was so good. I’m not a fast reader by any means and I read this book in two nights…that’s super fast for me okay! I fell in love with the story and its characters right away. I highly highly recommend this one if you’re looking for a cute contemporary story that also deals with the concept of anxiety.

i-found-you-9781501154591_hr

I Found You by Lisa Jewell

I had read The Girls In The Garden by Lisa Jewell last year and while it wasn’t amazing, I still loved the writing style and storyline. When I heard about I Found You, I knew I needed to read it. I’m so glad I picked this one up as it was such an amazing read! This was another one that I blew through in basically two nights. I highly recommend this one if you’re looking for a fantastic thriller!

4 STARS

9781481449663

At The Edge Of The Universe by Shaun David Hutchinson

It wouldn’t be a top 10 books of the year list if it didn’t include Shaun David Hutchinson. His books are amazing and I have loved every single one that I have read so far! This was probably my absolute most anticipated book of the year! And it arrived in time for my long flight to and back home from Tokyo! It hasn’t been my favourite of his, but it was just as amazing!

25733990
Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel

This was another unexpected favourite for me! I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into before reading it, but it turned out to be very entertaining. I haven’t read a good sci-fi in a while so I think it made this list just based on the fact that it was so different from everything else I’ve been reading this year!

5383738-01
The Backstagers, Vol.1 by James Tynion IV

The Backstagers was probably the cutest thing I have read ever. I don’t read a lot of light and fluffy stories and this was just the perfect change up for me. It was so well written and so fun! I absolutely LOVED this one.

There you have it! My top 10 reads of the year so far! What have been your favourite reads? Do any of ours match up?!

Thank you for reading!

  1. Eliza and Her Monsters was SO GOOD! I read that straight through I just couldn’t stop and then I had a book hangover for days.
I loved ACOL too, I was sad to see that world go, I love Kel and Lila. I think ADSOM is still my favorite of the series.

    1. OMG Eliza and Her Monsters was SOOO good! I definitely suffered from a book hangover after that one as well! It was definitely bittersweet to see the ADSOM series come to an end, but it was amazing while it lasted! 😀

  2. Completely agree with A Conjuring of Light. When it comes to a conclusion, that book hit all the right notes. Eliza and Her Monsters has been popping up on my timeline a lot more these days. Maybe I should give it a chance.
