It’s time for another weekly update! Keep reading to find out the books I read this past week as well as what I plan on reading next! I also mention both films and television series that I have been watching. But first, let’s start with a quick life update!
Life
Nothing too crazy happened throughout the first half of the week. I was busy with work and when I got home I just relaxed by either reading…or watching more BTS videos! On Thursday night, I booked a hair appointment and now I’m slightly more blonde! This may be one of the last times I add any bleach to my hair though as I think it’s starting to hate me for damaging it so much! It’ll be fun for the summer, but I’ll probably go back to dark brown or something for the fall/winter.
On Friday night, Ambur from Burning Impossibly Bright and I went to a Star Talks series at the Toronto Reference Library where we got to hear author Fredrik Backman talk about his newest book Beartown (which I absolutely loved btw). I’m so glad I ended up attending this event after contemplating whether or not to go as Fredrik Backman was an amazing speaker…and you know, he lives all the way in Sweden so it was a pretty rare event to be able to meet him and get my book signed!
On Saturday, a bunch of the Toronto bloggers got together for our monthly Read Harder bookish meet-up where we all discuss the books we have read since we last met up as well as the books that we are currently reading and the books we want to read next. It’s always great to see everyone again and catch-up! This was one of the biggest groups yet and we all exchanged books with one another that we were done with and were ready to pass along! A few of us went for all-you-can-eat sushi afterwards as well which is always a great time! During the evening, I went back home and met up with a few neighbours as a friend from London, England was visiting for a week! We had a great backyard chill party and it was honestly such a fun night!
Books
Recently Finished: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
I finished listening to the audiobook version of Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi which was alright. I can see it leading to a love triangle story arc and I don’t think I’m really a fan of it. I may give the second books a shot eventually, but probably not any time soon. Other than that, I haven’t finished a book since last week and I think I may officially be in a little bit of a slump. ugh.
Currently reading: Saints & Misfits by S.K. Ali & Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab
I started reading Saints and Misfits by S.K. Ali about a week ago and I’m honestly struggling to get through it at the moment. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m not in the right mood for this story or if I’m not enjoying the writing style, but something about it is making me struggle a little. I literally JUST started reading Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab to see if maybe that can help break this mini slump I’m in.
Upcoming reads: Maybe In Paris by Rebecca Christiansen, Want by Cindy Pon & The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell
I think I need a change of scenery soon in terms of the books that I am reading. I’m in a bit of a slump with a contemporary at the moment, so I’m not sure about reading Maybe In Paris, another contemporary, right away or if I should switch it up with some sci-fi in Want by Cindy Pon or some fantasy in The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell. Time will tell.
Film
Recently watched: N/A
Once again, I have watched nothing.
Upcoming: N/A
Honestly, I have no idea what to watch next. It looks like I’m in a movie slump as well.
Television
Currently finished binging: N/A
I haven’t currently finished binging or watching anything since last week!
Currently watching/binging: Orange Is The New Black & Shadowhunters
This answer is the same as last week! Currently binging Orange Is The New Black and currently watching Shadowhunters. I miss the good ol’ days when I would watch SO MANY television shows at once. I just don’t have the time anymore 😦
Music
Currently listening to: BTS
But I mean, you could have guessed that right? 😂
There you have it! My weekly update for this past week!
Thank you for reading!
You with your meet-ups and signings always make me want to come back to Toronto even before November 😛
I have Our Dark Duet on my kindle, but I need to finish Lord of Shadows first. I am so impatient to get to it though. I ADORED This Savage Song and I am anxious yet happy to get a conclusion (hopefully?).

Haha! We’re pretty lucky! The signings are usually pretty steady haha! 😛
I’m like 150 pages into Our Dark Duet now and I’m liking it so far! Still waiting for something big to happen though, but it feels like something is just right around the corner! 😀

Oooh, yeah. But I feel like This Savage Song was pretty slow and steady for the most part as well, so it makes sense? I don’t know hahaha

Sounds like a great week! I didn’t even know that you were Canadian! I’m from about an hour away from Toronto!
