It’s time for another Top 10 Tuesday!!! For those of you who don’t know, Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the folks over at The Broke and the Bookish! This week we are asked to share the last ten books of any genre that we have recently added to our TBRs! I have decided to highlight the last 10 comics/graphic novels that I have recently discovered! You can never have too many, am I right?
Enjoy!
Star-Lord: Grounded by Chip Zdarsky
Peter Quill might have been born on Earth, but he’s been away a long time. And now that the Guardians of the Galaxy have gone and got themselves stranded on terra firma, how does a man go from soaring through the stars as the legendary Star-Lord, to living with his feet planted firmly on the ground? What kind of job options are available for a guy whose résumé mostly consists of “guarding the galaxy”? One thing is certain: Earth has a new guardian. Also, a new bartender.
Moon Knight, Vol.2: Reincarnations by Jeff Lemire
Meet the many men inside Moon Knight’s head as the focus shifts to his various incarnations! Marc Spector broke his body to escape the prison Khonshu built for his mind…but what if he’s still trapped? Steven Grant awoke in New York City, ready to produce Marvel’s next box-office smash – is he losing his mind, or will Moon Knight: The Movie be a blockbuster? And Jake Lockley is under arrest for murder! With the world calling on him to protect those who travel at night, Marc is losing control. The muddled mind of Moon Knight is reaching its limit!
Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye, Vol. 1: Going Underground by Gerard Way
Cave Carson has a cybernetic eye. But you knew that already. The question is, why was this spelunking adventurer fitted with a bionic implant and what do the visions it’s giving him mean? Before his cybernetic eye started showing Cave Carson a world outside his own, he had retired from his life of exploring the center of the Earth with his wife, Eileen, and they had settled into a comfortable, if not mundane, existence above the surface. That is, until Eileen got sick. Now, newly widowed, a knock on the door of Cave’s underground lab has brought him back into the world he thought he left behind, beneath the surface of the Earth.
Doom Patrol, Vol.1: Brick by Brick by Gerard Way
The spirit of Grant Morrison’s groundbreaking Doom Patrol is captured in this debut series starring the cult-favorite misfits as a part of Gerard Way’s new Young Animal imprint. Flex Mentallo, Robotman, Rebis, Crazy Jane, and more are back to twist minds and take control. This new take on a classic embraces and reimagines the Morrison run’s signature surrealism and irreverence. Incorporating bold, experimental art and a brash tone to match a new generation of readers, Gerard Way’s Doom Patrol establishes radical new beginnings, breaks new ground, and honors the warped team dynamic of the world’s strangest heroes.
Demonic, Vol.1 by Christopher Sebela
Detective Scott Graves will do anything to protect his family… even bargain away his soul. Now, the only thing to fear isn’t New York’s worst criminals, but what’s already raging inside of him. After all, what’s the cost of your soul when it’s already damaged?
Motor Crush, Vol.1 by Brendan Fletcher
The team behind the critically acclaimed revamp of Batgirl returns with an exciting sci-fiction-adventure series! By day, Domino Swift competes for fame and fortune in a worldwide motorcycle racing league. By night, she cracks heads of rival gangs in brutal bike wars to gain possession of a rare, valuable contraband: an engine-boosting “machine narcotic” known as Crush.
Extremity, Vol.1 by Daniel Warren Johnson
Thea dreams. Not of a better life, but of revenge on the clan that ruined her family. With ferocious battles between man, machines, and monsters ahead…who knows where her quest for vengeance will take her? Creator Daniel Warren Johnson (Space Mullet) and colorist Mike Spicer present a bold new vision, where the beauty and imagination of Studio Ghibli meet the intensity of Mad Max, in this all-new Skybound Original.
Everyone’s a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too: A Book by Jomny Sun
The illustrated story of a lonely alien sent to observe Earth, where he meets all sorts of creatures with all sorts of perspectives on life, love, and happiness, while learning to feel a little better about himself—based on the enormously popular Twitter account. Here is the unforgettable story of Jomny, an alien sent to study Earth. Always feeling apart, even among his species, Jomny feels at home for the first time among the earthlings he meets. There is a bear tired of other creatures running in fear, an egg struggling to decide what to hatch into, a turtle hiding itself by learning camouflage, a puppy struggling to express its true feelings, and many more. The characters are unique and inventive—bees think long and hard about what love means, birds try to eat the sun, nothingness questions its own existence, a ghost comes to terms with dying, and an introverted hedgehog slowly lets Jomny see its artistic insecurities. At the same time, Jomny’s curious presence allows these characters to open up to him in ways they were never able to before, revealing the power of somebody who is just there to listen.
Archie, Vol.3 by Mark Waid
Introducing… Cheryl Blossom! The fiery red-head takes center stage as Archie and Veronica’s worlds are torn apart as the two are living thousands of miles away from each other. What will happen to the rest of Archie’s friends in Riverdale? And just what kind of havoc will Cheryl Blossom wreak? All the answers and more in the third volume of the SMASH HIT Archie series!
Seven to Eternity, Vol. 1: The God of Whispers by Rick Remender
The God of Whispers has spread an omnipresent paranoia to every corner of the kingdom of Zhal; his spies hide in every hall spreading mistrust and fear. Adam Osidis, a dying knight from a disgraced house, must choose between joining a hopeless order of magical warriors and mercenaries in their desperate bid to free their world of the evil God, or accepting the God’s promise to give Adam everything he’s ever dreamed of. All men have surrendered their freedom for fear; now one last free man must choose between the fate of the world and his own heart’s desire.
