When Senior Constable James Hayes, a police officer in the small town of Yoorana, is called out to the local cemetery in the middle of the night, he makes a discovery that turns his world upside down. Six people have inexplicably risen from the dead in perfect health.
Do you ever just get bored and click on the first thing you see on Netflix? I was getting ready one morning and I hate complete silence. I either need music playing or a TVshow/movie streaming. I didn’t really have time to go through Netflix too much so I just clicked on the first thing I saw in my recommended list, and that just happened to be the Australian TV show: Glitch. Good thing I chose it, because I was instantly hooked and binged the first season in 2 days.

What I Liked
The characters & their flashbacks. Glitch is very character driven. It focuses on these mysterious people that have risen from the dead. It doesn’t only focus on them in the present day, but it focuses on their pasts and how they died as well. With the Risen all being from different time periods, it was interesting to see these characters remember their pasts and seeing themselves in their respective time periods.
The mystery. I mean, that’s what makes this show work right. You need to know the answers. Although this first season didn’t give us many, it sure as hell pulled me in while hoping and praying that I would get some sort of explanation.

What I Didn’t Like
The overused concept. It seems as though there are plenty of shows featuring people mysteriously returning from the dead, ie. The Returned. Now, I’ve never seen The Returned, but even as I was reading the description of Glitch, I thought to myself “Well, that’s not very original.” However, as mentioned, I’ve never seen these other shows. The closest I’ve come was maybe The Family, but that kind of gave us some answers that debunked the “risen from the dead aspect.” Sidenote: Man…can someone please start a petition to bring back The Family. #CancelledToSoon
The lack of answers. As a Canadian citizen, we were only just offered Glitch this month. I just found out it first aired in Australia in July of 2015!!! How have you guys been living with that cliffhanger? How have you been living with the lack of answers. It’s driving me mad already and it’s been a day… Who is this mysterious John Doe. What the hell kind of whistle thing did he own and why did it effect the other Risen the way that it did? Oh yeah…and did I mention THE CLIFFHANGER?!

Glitch is definitely a show you should check and Season 2 has already been green lit by Netflix so honestly, watch this show! Then hopefully we can all hope and pray for some answers together.
Thank you for reading!
Ooh! I have this in my queue because I was curious, but to tell the truth I wasn’t in a huge rush because I’ve seen The Returned and thought it sounded to similar. This sounds good though, so I’ll definitely be checking it out. Great review!💁🏻

Definitely will be looking this up! I actually hadn’t heard of this show before but it sounds pretty interesting and I too haven’t watched the Returned or any of those similar shows so it should be okay for me! Haha lack of answers can be THE DEATH OF ME but I’m looking forward to checking this show out! Great review! 🙂

I’m so glad my review brought the show to your attention! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it especially because you haven’t seen the other shows like it! The lack of answers is definitely killing me, but hopefully I can hold on!

Good review, I just come out more on the dislikes than the likes. It’s certainly an odd show, I cant even say I know what is going on, and after six episodes you should at least have some kind of foundation to work with. Obviously something bigger picture with them going out of their way to isolate who knows about this event. Who came back from the dead seems extremely arbitrary and since there doesnt appear to be any connection I cant see how they tie this all together. It was very mysterious, but too much so. Mystery, for me, loses the effect if it’s just layer, upon layer with nothing making much sense. For the most part i found the individual stories interesting enough to keep watching, but then it took a twist from individual issues getting resolved (and really why these people as opposed to other people?) to something else. Some enforcer of the dead type shows up to make sure they all go back to being dead, but then that doesnt happen. Are they establishing their own little returned from the dead community? All in all not something I will make a point of watching when a Season 2 comes out.
