It’s time for another Top 10 Tuesday!!! For those of you who don’t know, Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the folks over at The Broke and the Bookish!
The theme this week asked us to choose ten characters that we would name our children/pets/etc. after. Now, I’ve always mentioned that if I were to ever have kids, I would want four boys. I know it’s uncontrollable and I would be equally as happy with girls, but I just wanted to give you all a heads up as to why there are so many boy names on this list. However, I have added a few girl names as well. Honestly, I’d be the type of parent to mix up the names a bit and give typical boys names to girls and vise versa so these names really could be used for either.
Okay, I’m done rambling now…here are ten characters that I would name my hypothetical future children after!
Jude (A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara)
I’ve always liked the name Jude, but after reading A Little Life, I have fallen in love with it even more. Jude was such a beautiful person, whether he realized it or not and the name now means a lot more to me than it did before reading this novel.
Rhys (A Court Of Mist & Fury by Sarah J. Maas)
I don’t know if I would go as far as naming my child the full name Rhysand, but I do love the short form of Rhys and I especially love how it is spelled within the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Rhys has quite quickly become one of my favoruite characters of all time and I would be happy to name my future child after him.
Lilah (A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab)
Let’s face it. Lilah is a badass. She is definitely a character that is inspiring and that I hope my future children would look up to. Lilah has never been a name on my radar before, but after reading the A Darker Shade of Magic series, it is now definitely one of my favourites.
Scorpius (Harry Potter & The Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling)
I mean honestly, how amazing is this name? I would totally name my child Scorpius. It sounds so badass, even if Scorpius as a character is the most cinnamon roll that ever cinnamon rolled.
Lucien (A Court of Thorns & Roses by Sarah J. Maas)
Lucien, or even Lucius, has been a name on my radar for a while now. However, after reading A Court Of Thorns and Roses, the name Lucien stood out to me even more. Lucien still remains to be one of my favourite characters and I hope it stays that way throughout the series. Especially because I love the name so much.
Cassidy (Preacher by Garth Ennis & Steve Dillon)
Here’s a name that I might use non-traditionally. Cassidy is a male character within the Preacher series. Although Cassidy is technically his last name, I think I would use it as a first name for a boy, however, it is equally as nice a name for a girl.
Archie (Archie by Mark Waid)
How cute is the name Archie. I mean seriously. It works as an adorable baby name and it transitions into a perfect name for an adult as well. I’ve been reading the Archie comics ever since I was a kid and to this day if I ever hear of someone with the name Archie I instantly think of this character.
Gabriel (Half Bad)
Gabriel is definitely one of my favourite characters from the Half Bad series. I also love that he pronounces is Gah-BREE-elle rather than GAY-bree-ill. Although, either pronunciation is perfect.
Nimona (Nimona by Noelle Stevenson)
I love how unconventional the name Nimona is. Also, the character Nimona is amazing, she’s funny and tough and just an all around awesome character.
Mattimeo (Redwall by Brian Jacques)
I remember Redwall always being on Teletoon at night when I was a kid. I never really got too into it, but I remember hearing the name Mattimeo and it stuck with me ever since. I love that it sounds like Matteo, but is just slightly different enough that it’s unique.
And there you have it. Some potential baby names for my hypothetical future children! Do you agree with any of my choices? What are some of your favourite character’s names? Let’s discuss!!
Thank you for thinking that Cassidy is a nice name for a girl 😉 🙂
Love your list of names and I’m currently kicking myself for forgetting to include Rhys in my list lol

Rhys is a very common Welsh name so as much as I love the name I wouldn’t give it to my child, Plus the name always reminds me of a guy I knew in school who was a total ass haha.
I love the name Cassidy and it works for both genders.

Oh I didn’t know it was a popular Welsh name! I know I’ve seen it as part of actors names (Jonathan Rhys Meyers, John Rhys-Davies)! Oh no, I’m sorry the name is negative for you haha! I also really do love Cassidy as a name for either gender! 🙂

Jude is a nice name – A Little Life is on my to-read list and I recently read an excerpt of it and thought it was very promising 🙂 So I’m glad to hear you loved it that much! I also like the sound of ‘Lilah’ 🙂
Here are the names I chose:

Oh yes! Please read A Little Life asap! I pushed it to the side because of it’s length and I regret waiting so long to read it!

Haha, Scorpius is an amazing name! I do also love much of Schwab’s names, and I’d totally name children after them (Rhy for a boy and Kisimyr for a girl, heh). Great names list!
