#Top10Tuesday: “You HAVE To Read This!”

Top10Tuesday

It’s time for another Top 10 Tuesday!!! For those of you who don’t know, Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the folks over at The Broke and the Bookish! The theme this week asked us to discuss the books that came the most highly recommended to us. I’ve decided to feature these in a few different ways. One being the books that were recommended to me that I have already read, and two being the books that have been recommended to me that I haven’t gotten around to yet. I have also decided to feature recommendations that were made to me by friends, authors and social media. Are you ready to check out my list? Here we go!

Recommended Books I Have Read

12954620
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes (as recommended by Jesse!)

Jesse started recommending this book to me basically the day that we first met! I finally had the chance to read it recently and I absolutely loved it! Now I know why it came so highly recommended! I can’t wait to continue reading the rest of this series!

My Review

20501606

Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits by David Wong (as recommended by Heather!)

My best friend Heather recommended this to me after we both finished reading Ready Player One. She mentioned that it felt similar to her in terms of this epic hunt for clues and treasure. She also mentioned how much she loved John Dies At The End by the same author so I jumped on this one and it was fantastic! A lot more witty and satirical than Ready Player One, but just as entertaining and fast paced!

My Review

joebarbariandeluxe

Joe The Barbarian by Grant Morrison & Sean Murphy (also recommended by Heather!)

My best friend Heather is also an avid comic book reader and she begged me to read Joe The Barbarian, a.k.a. one of her favourite comics of all time. It was  such a unique story for a comic and I absolutely loved it!

Aristotle and Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
(as recommended by BookTube!)

I mean, who wasn’t talking about this book all over booktube over the years? And I’m so glad they were. Aristotle and Dante is one of those books that I just gobbled up in a day and wanted more. It’s such a fantastic novel and I highly recommend it!

My Review

house_of_leaves

House Of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski (as recommended by Goodreads!)

After reading Night Film by Marisha Pessl, I was browsing through Goodreads to check out everyone’s reviews and someone mentioned picking up House Of Leaves if you enjoyed Night Film. I’ll admit I was a bit hesitant at first as the intense size and format of this novel is insane, but I’m glad that I finally did because it’s one of the best books I have ever read. It’s dark and creepy and perfect!

My Review

saga-collage

Saga by Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples (as recommended by Booktube!)

Once again, about every single book tuber was talking about Saga at one point or another and for very good reason. It remains to be one of the best comic series I have ever read. Honestly, just give this one a try if you haven’t already!

We Are The Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson
(as recommended by Simon & Schuster Canada!)

I got an email from Simon & Schuster in late 2015 asking if I would like to read We Are The Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson. If you somehow don’t know already, this remains to be my favourite 2016 book release…and I read it in December of 2015. I’d like to think that if Simon & Schuster hadn’t recommended this book to me I would never have discovered it. Oh yeah…GO READ IT NOW.

Recommended Books I Still Have To Read

Tattoo Atlas by Tim Floreen (as recommended by Shaun David Hutchinson!)

I happened to be browsing through Goodreads and I noticed that Shaun David Hutchinson had just posted a raving review of Tattoo Atlas by Tim Floreen. As mentioned above, We Are The Ants is one of my favourite books of all time, but Shaun David Hutchinson has also become one of my favourite authors of all time. Whatever he recommends, I will read. Tattoo Atlas comes out on October 18th!

wonder_cover_art

Wonder by R.J. Palacio (as recommended by literally all of my little cousins!)

Seriously though. All of my younger cousins have read this. Even the ones that aren’t heavy readers. And they have all recommended it. It’s been on my shelf for a while now and I seriously need to get to it ASAP!

game-of-thrones
Game Of Thrones by George R.R. Martin (as recommended by Kelly!)

Kelly is a close friend of mine and probably the biggest Game of Thrones fans that I know. She’s read each book multiple times and always recommends that I jump on it. I have them waiting for me, but they’re just so intimidating!

    1. I definitely need to read Wonder ASAP! Ahh! You need to read We Are The Ants. If I could recommend one book to everyone, it would be that one! I’m glad it’s on your TBR because of me! 😀 ❤

  1. Every time I see the Falling Kingdoms I immediately think of Jesse haha. I feel like I should pick up the books so I can understand why it gets so much love. 😛
