Ready Player One

Ready Player One was my favourite book that I read last year. It was filled with non-stop action and I would definitely re-read it…and I don’t re-read novels, like ever. If you haven’t read this hyped up book yet, you really should!!!

Futuristic Violence & Fancy Suits

I read Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits quite recently after one of my best friends in the entire world let me borrow it! It was super fast paced and each chapter ended with one hell of a cliffhanger that made me want to continue reading.

Illuminae

Illuminae was probably one of the most hyped and most talked about books last year. Everyone in the book community was reading it. I decided to wait for the hype to die down a bit before I started reading it and I will say this book was great! The action was non-stop and the story was told in such a unique way!

Armada

Armada gained a lot of mixed reviews as Ernest Cline’s follow up to Ready Player One. I will admit that after reading it I definitely still prefer Ready Player One, but there’s no denying the action and adventure that takes place throughout this novel. Was it as fantastic as Ready Player One? Maybe not. Was it still one hell of an action-packed and fun-filled adventure? Hell yes.

Red Rising Trilogy

The Red Rising trilogy has recently BLOWN UP in popularity. I will admit, I was a little iffy about the first two novels in this trilogy. They are extremely well-written and they certainly aren’t bad, but I found them a little hard to follow considering the amount of characters and detail. However, I’m currently 75% through Morning Star and and I must say, I think I have finally gained a grasp on this story. I’m finding it a lot easier to follow and it’s just so good!

Saga

Saga somehow manages to find its way into any compilation or list I have ever made. That just shows how much I love this series and how badly I want everyone to read it. Saga is the perfect mix of action and adventure. It has a fantastic story line and fascinating characters. What more could you ask for?

The Martian

The Martian was one of the biggest hits of last year, especially due to the release of the film adaptation. The Martian lived up to the hype and delivered quite the action packed story. The writing style is beyond fantastic. The Martian is definitely one of my favourite reads of all time!

Annihilation

The Southern Reach trilogy was unlike anything I had ever read before. I read this trilogy as one of my first treks into the sci-fi universe. What caught my attention was the fact that it mixed sci-fi with horror. It sounded perfect for my first sci-fi read. Although the second two books in the series weren’t exactly my cup of tea, Annihilation started the trilogy out strong. It was gripping and creepy and pretty darn great.

Night Film

Night Film was one of the first books that I picked up when I really started getting into reading and blogging. It had a lot of mixed reviews, but the synopsis alone had me sold. It sounded so perfectly dark and sinister which is definitely right up my alley. I absolutely loved this novel and I would definitely give it a re-read again someday. It’s quite large in size, but it was so gripping that it felt like a quick read as I was unable to put it down!

A Darker Shade of Magic

I actually listened to A Darker Shade of Magic as an audiobook not too long ago! I absolutely loved it! Listening to it definitely added to the action and adventure within. I just picked up the sequel and I can’t wait to dive in!

  2. You simply cannot go wrong with the Red Rising Trilogy, although I am terrified/excited to read Morning Star. Illuminae is definitely one of my stand out books of 2015. It’s just so creative and engaging and I can’t wait to see where Gemina takes us.
Ready Player One is a book I’ve seen floating about for a while now and with all the glowing reviews I read about it I feel like I need to jump on this bandwagon. 😀

    1. Annihilation was pretty awesome, but I was left a tad disappointed with the other two books in the trilogy unfortunately. The Martian’s film adaptation was actually pretty damn good! The humour is fantastic within the novel as well!
