Book Buying Ban
I am only allowing myself to purchase one full priced book for every 5 that I have read from my TBR pile. I have way too many stacks of books that I need to get through before I can purchase any more! (This does not include possible thrift store finds as, let’s be real, those prices are too good to pass up!)
50 Book Goal
For the past two years, I have set my book reading goal to 50. Whether or not I think I will make it or surpass it. I have managed to do it for the past two years and I hope to be able to continue reading a minimum of 50 books a year!
2016 Reading Challenge
This year I will be trying something new! I will be participating in the Around The World in 52 Books Reading Challenge on Goodreads! I would really like to be able to stick to this reading challenge!
Audiobooks
I discovered the wonderful world of audiobooks late in 2015 and I would really like to be able to listen to more of these throughout the year of 2016! They’re fantastic for listening to while at work, getting ready in the morning, commuting, etc.
One eBook Per Month
I continuously buy eBooks for my Kobo, especially when they’re on sale. The problem is, I forget about them with shiny new physical books that are constantly in my face. I would like to set a goal to read at least one eBook per month!
Read at Least One Chapter
It’s no secret that I love to watch television shows. It’s also no secret that I tend to binge watch television shows. I would like to set a rule that before starting the next episode of whatever show I’m currently binging, that I need to read at least one chapter of the book that I am currently reading.
ARCs
ARCs are a dangerous thing. On one hand you’re really excited to be recieving a book that hasn’t been released yet. However, sometimes you think you might really want to read that story until you receive it and realize that you want to read other books on your shelves more. I want to set a rule that I will only request and accept ARCs that I really badly want to read.
Read What You Love
Life is short! There’s no time to waste on books that you really aren’t enjoying. I’m going to try and embrace that sometime you just have to DNF a book and that’s okay. Read what you love!
And there you have it! These are my bookish goals and New Years resolutions for the year 2016! Happy New Year everyone!
I really like your guidelines for your book buying ban. I’ve been on a ban for most of 2015 as my husband and I are saving for our first house. I’ve only been buying one book per month and using the library for everything else. Though, I don’t really have a lot of books in my shelves that I haven’t read before. There’s only three in there that haven’t been read. I wish you luck on all your resolutions. Happy New Year!

Lovely! I have some as well and since this year I finally finished my Goodreads challenge of reading 50 books, I’m going to challenge myself to 60. I don’t count graphic novels though, do you?
And I won’t stop buying books.. ever! I will keep buying them and I will soon will be burried under them. I mean, I only started buying books this year so I have to make up for lost time. 😀
