The Wolf of Wall Street

Can you believe I’ve had this book and film sitting on my shelf for over a year now and I have still yet to read or watch either of them? Mostly, I think the main reason I have waited so long to watch the film is that I just haven’t been able to find a good three hours I can set aside to be able to watch the incredible long film. I will one day though! I promise!

With Mocking Jay Part 2 right around the corner I should really probably watch Part One as soon as possible. I’m not really sure why I’ve waited so long to watch this film, but I think it might be the right time to get into it!

Dark Places
Now I know the film adaptation of Dark Places by Gillian Flynn did not get the best reviews in the world, but Dark Places is by far my favourite novel by Gillian Flynn. The film could either add to my experience with the story in a good way or a bad way, but I am still very excited to watch this film in the near future!

Me & Earl & The Dying Girl
Part of the reason I have waited so long to watch this film is because I wanted to read the novel first. I have the novel on my shelf waiting to be read, but as I am sure is the same for most of you, it’s just the lack of time that has prevented me from reading this novel as of yet. One day I will get to it and the movie will be right there waiting for me!

Inherent Vice

This movie just looks straight up weird. If you know me even a little, you know that “straight up weird” is my middle name. I love anything unconventional and strange and Inherent Vice looks like it’s the perfect match for me! I also would love to read the novel, but I think this is one of those cases where I really don’t mind which I do first.

I read this novel quite a while ago and the film is up on Netflix so I really have no excuse as to why I haven’t watched it yet. It’s once again probably a mixture of lack of time and, I won’t lie, a little bit of laziness. I will get to it some time soon I hope!

Jamie Marks Is Dead (One for Sorrow)

Honestly, I had no idea that this film was based on a novel to begin with. I had randomly heard about the film because one of my favourite actors, Cameron Monaghan (Shameless, Gotham) stars in it which inevitably put it on my radar. I really do want to read the novel now that I know it exists, but once again, I don’t think I really mind whether or not I watch the film or read the novel first.

Dermaphoria

I recently found the trailer for this film while browsing through good old YouTube as I noticed that yet another one of my favourite actors, Joseph Morgan (The Originals) starred in it. After watching the trailer I found out about the novel and it has been on my “To-Read” list on Goodreads for quite some time now. It seems really dark and strange, which once again, is perfect for me!

The Shining
This one is a classic that I probably should have read and watched by now and sadly I have done neither…don’t judge me please! I have the book sitting on my shelf at home and I had every intention of reading it this past October, but I just didn’t get around to it. I do really want to read this novel before watching it so I’m hoping to get to both the book and the film soon!

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
This one might be the film that I push of the longest. One reason being that, once again, I do really want to read the novel first. Secondly, this just seems extremely sad and heartbreaking and I think I would definitely need to be in the right frame of mind before attempting to either read or watch it.

Zodiac
I’m weird. You may have realized that by now. I love everything dark and twisted. You may have already noticed that as well. Naturally, when one finds something dark and twisted, my guess is that they are naturally intrigued by serial killers. Don’t twist my words! I do NOT worship or praise ANY serial killers whatsoever. However, what I do find interesting is their psyche and what makes them tick. Therefore, Zodiac has always intrigued me as a novel and a film. This is another film that’s on Netflix (or at least it was the last time I checked) so I hope to get to it as soon as possible!

Brokeback Mountain

I find it extremely strange that I haven’t watched this film yet. I mean…why have I waited so long? It’s a classic and I think it was ahead of its time in dealing with LGBTQ topics in film and television…in North America at least. Brokeback Mountain is definitely a film that I should have watched by now and it at the top of my list.

    1. Oh man I’ve heard so much about how sad it is 😦 I don’t know when or if I’ll ever be able to prepare myself for it haha

  1. Jake Gyllenhaal is such a great actor. Have you seen him in Nightcrawler? The Shining film is superb. I know what you mean about The Wolf of Wall Street. I find I have to watch 3 hour plus movies at the cinema or I take years to see them.
