What My TV Schedule Will Look Like This October

octobertelevisionschedule-01As September comes to an end, many television shows begin their return to the small screen. There are new seasons of some of our favourites while there are also some brand new shows to pick and choose from. Once October rolls around, my television schedule is usually in full swing. As someone who watches way more television shows than they can handle, I really shouldn’t be adding too many new shows to my schedule…but I just can’t help it! Below you will find a day-by-day guide to the television shows that I will be watching this fall!

sunday-02The Walking Dead (Season 6)

Ah, The Walking Dead…and to think I almost gave up on this show way back during season two (the search for Sophia dragged on a little too long if you ask me). I am so glad that I managed to stick through season two as The Walking Dead only went up hill from there! It has become one of my favourite shows of all time and it’s no secret that it has become a pop culture phenomenon. It seems almost impossible that things could get even more intense as each season premieres, but it just constantly has me at the edge of my seat! I’m eagerly awaiting this one! #IfDarylDiesWeRiot

Premiere Date: October 11th

Homeland (Season 5)

Where is Peter Quinn?! Although last season wasn’t very popular with reviewers, I didn’t mind it. It wasn’t as amazing as the show has been in the past, but I still found it decently entertaining. I’ve always been a fan of Peter Quinn and his mysterious demeanor so I’ll be tuning in this season to find out where the hell he went!

Premiere Date: October 4th

The Leftovers (Season 2)

I remember hearing about The Leftovers when season one was about to premiere, but I kept putting it off for whatever reason. Then one day, out of boredom, after the season had completely finished airing, I decided to binge it. And binge it I did. I watched the entire season in about 2 days. I even bought the book (which I have neglected to read, but shh) because I was hooked on the show. The Leftovers is going to be changing some things up for Season 2 and although I’m a little skeptical, I’m also curious to see what will be done with the storyline.

Premiere Date: October 4th

monday-02

Gotham (Season 2)

Gotham is another one that I almost gave up on way back in season one. I was a few episodes behind when I started seeing commercials advertising Cameron Monaghan as a possible “Joker”. I have been a fan of Cameron for a while as I am a devout Shameless fan. I owe my return to watching Gotham to Cameron Monaghan alone. His episode in season one was flawless, and the first two episodes of Gotham season 2 have been fantastic, with him obviously stealing the show. I’m extremely excited for this “Rise of the Villains” storyline and as of right now, I will definitely continue watching weekly.

Premiere Date: September 21st

Minority Report (Series Premiere)

Minority Report is one that I am iffy about. I barely remember the film as I watched it quite a while ago, so it’s not based on my hate for remakes or anything like that. Based on the advertisements alone, the acting and writing just didn’t seem up to par with my personal standards, but I always give new shows that are mildly intriguing a chance by watching their premiere episodes. After watching the first episode of this season, I didn’t hate it, but I wasn’t in love either. Also, being from Toronto, it is pretty hard for me to believe that this world is supposed to be taking place in Washington…it’s so blatantly Toronto it hurts. I’ll give a few more episodes a try, but I’m not sure how far I’ll get to be honest.

Premiere Date: September 21st

Blindspot (Series Premiere)

Now here is a show that blew me away after the first premiere episode. Blindspot is completely fast paced and it jumped right into the story. After two episodes, there have already been a number of twists and cliffhangers. So far this show has been one of my top picks of the new Fall television series. It’s creative and original and one hell of a ride.

Premiere Date: September 21st

tuesday-02

Scream Queens (Series Premiere)

Okay. Take American Horror Story, mix it with Glee and you get Scream Queens. Ryan Murphy has created yet another genre bending television show full of camp, vulgar comedy and horror. Although there are many great things about this show it is hard for me to get past the redundant use of stereotypes. Ryan Murphy does this great thing where he uses the same actors and actresses in completely different stories and scenarios, but the problem is that he doesn’t change their character at all. Emma Roberts has literally played the same character throughout AHS: Coven, AHS: Freak Show and now Scream Queens. Lea Michele’s character is virtually still Rachel Berry and Ariana Grande portrays yet another dim-witted character. It’s getting old if you ask me. The writing is hilarious though, I’ll give it that. I’ll be sticking around until the end of this season mostly out of curiosity surrounding The Red Devil.

Premiere Date: September 22nd

Limitless (Series Premiere)

This one was definitely a pleasant surprise. I honestly didn’t think I would enjoy this show. Based on the advertisments, it basically fell into the same category as Minority Report where it just didn’t seem like something I was going to enjoy. Boy was I wrong. The advertisements do it no justice. The writing is so smart and the filming style is fantastic. My only piece of criticism is that it kind of seems as though it will become yet another cop drama and I really hope that isn’t the case. Guy takes pill, guy becomes smart, guy helps cops solve crime. It’s kind of been done before and doesn’t feel very creative where as every other aspect of this show does. Please please please don’t mess it up!

Premiere Date: September 22nd

iZombie (Season 2)

I loved season one of iZombie. Once again, this was a show that I had no intention of watching, but decided to give it a go one day out of pure boredom. I’m so glad I did as the writing is top notch. Honestly, it’s pretty witty and hilarious and very campy. I’m excited where Season 2 will go as certain reveals happened toward the end of season one that could change the story drastically, in the best way possible…I hope!

Premiere Date: October 6th

wednesday-02

American Horror Story: Hotel (Season 5)

Ah, one of those shows that you get excited for, but are also really nervous about. I loved season one of American Horror Story and it has remained my favourite season of the show to date. Asylum was great until the aliens showed up which felt completely out of place in my opinion. Coven was a tad boring and toned down compared to previous seasons. Freak Show had an amazing concept and it had the potential to be something amazing, but it fell flat as the story literally went no where. Hotel has everything it needs to be amazing. Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, a hotel theme and so much more which makes me so very excited…but then I think about how excited I was for Freak Show and how much it let me down. I really hope Ryan Murphy can figure out some way to bring this show back to life. And for the love of God, please get more creative with your characters for crying out loud.

Premiere Date: October 7th

Kingdom (Season 2)

Kingdom is easily on my Top 10 list of favourite television shows. I saw random advertisements for it on a news channel of all places and I thought it looked pretty intriguing. I begain watching season one after about 5 episodes had already aired. I binged them in one night and I was hooked. Can we all just praise the acting job done by Jonathan Tucker…like holy cow. He is probably one of the most underrated actors on television right now. If anything, please watch this show just for his performance and character development. Anyway…this show is fantastic and if I recommend anything on this list to the highest degree it would be Kingdom!

Premiere Date: October 14th

thursday-02

Heroes Reborn (Series Premiere)

Remember Heroes? Remember how great season one was? Remember the writer’s strike that brought season two down. Remember how it wasn’t the same after that? I do. Heroes was one of my favourite shows in its prime. It was written so well and It had cliffhangers and twists like you wouldn’t believe. The fact that it went downhill so fast has me skeptical about Heroes Reborn, but after watching the first episode, I will admit, I am a little intrigued. I will continue watching and hope for the best, but I’m not sure how long I will last with this one.

Premiere Date: September 24th

The Originals (Season 3)

So I gave up on The Vampire Diaries a while back. The writing was god awful and I just didn’t have time for it among all of the other shows I was watching that were far superior. However, the spin-off “The Originals” intrigued me way back when season one was set to premiere. I’m not afraid to admit I have a bit of a bad boy complex and I tend to choose the villians as my favourite characters in anything I watch, hence my love for Klaus Mikaelson. Creating a spin-off starring the original vampire family with Klaus as the lead character had me wanting to watch this show immediately. Although the writing isn’t necessarily better than that within The Vampire Diaries, the portrayal of Klaus by Joseph Morgan is well worth your time.

Premiere Date: October 8th

How To Get Away With Murder (Season 2)

Can you say instant hit TV show? How To Get Away With Murder is so smart and intricate. Every cliffhanger and twist feels like it was planned out for a long time before filming. I will warn you that this show gets super addicting, really quickly. I watched season one as it aired weekly, but my sister recently binged it on Netflix all within a few days and now she has to experience the pain of waiting each week to find out what the hell is going on!

Premiere Date: September 24th

friday-02

Hemlock Grove (Season 3) – Netflix  Original

BONUS! Hemlock Grove’s third and final season will be dropped in its entirety this October! As confusing as this show can get, it’s strangely addicting. I’m super excited to be able to binge this very soon, but I’m also sad that it is coming to an end!

Premiere Date: October 23rd

saturday-02

Saturday, lovely Saturday. A day of rest…or in my case, a day of catching up on anything I may have missed during the week!

I hope you all enjoyed this day-by-day guide to the television shows that I will be watching this fall! I’ll be sure to update you all with my winter selections! What do you plan on watching this Fall that I neglected to mention? Do you have a recommendation for a show that I should start watching (not like I have extra time, but whatever)? Do we watch some of the same series? I can’t wait to discuss all things TV with you all and as always, thank you for reading!

  1. I’m very very interested about a couple of these shows including Heroes, How To Get Away With Murder and American Horror Story! I need to know though… Will American Horror Story scare me and possibly make me paranoid and have nightmares at night? As a scaredy cat, I must take these precautions 😂
