Hello everyone! As you may have noticed in my recent posts, I’ve been pretty busy with some awesome events taking place in Toronto this month! September started out strong with the four day long Fan Expo convention where I met some of my favourite celebrities as well as did some major damage to my wallet. From there I spent a lovely labour day at the CNE (the Canadian National Exhibition) which is basically a huge carnival that is a part of tradition for most Torontonians.
I then started my run as a volunteer at TIFF (the Toronto International Film Festival) for the second year in a row! I’ve already seen one film and I’ve caught a glimpse of a few celebrities such as Rachel McAdams, Topher Grace, Elizabeth Moss, Ellen Page and Evan Rachel Wood. I also recently saw my favourite band of all time, Twenty One Pilots, live at the Sound Academy in Toronto. I will be heading off to a few more volunteer shifts this week, but first I thought I would leave you with something a little more book related…a Top 10 Tuesday Post! I feel like I haven’t written one of these in such a long time! So without further ado, I hope you like my Top 10 Tuesday list consisting of my Top 10 Comics and Graphic Novels on my TBR list!
Saga Volume 5
Author: Brian K. Vaughan, Illustrator: Fiona Staples
Publisher: Image Comics
Genre: Science Fiction, Fantasy
Release Date: September 15th 2015
Page Count: 152
ISBN: 9781632154385
If you have yet to hear of Saga, I’m afraid to inform you that you have unfortunately been living under a rock. Book reviewers have constantly been talking about this series and let me tell you, it is worth all of the hype. The minute I finished Volume 1, I ran and picked up Volumes 2, 3 & 4 and devoured those as well. Saga Volume 5 comes out today and I cannot wait to find this in my mailbox!
Wytches
Author: Scott Snyder, Illustrator: Jock
Publisher: Image Comics
Genre: Horror
Release Date: June 24th 2015
Page Count: 144
ISBN: 9781632153807
I haven’t heard too much about Wytches other than the fact that it’s really good. I picked up volume one while I was at Fan Expo and as I brought it up to the man who was running the booth the first thing he said to me was “this is really really good.” which got me even more pumped to read it! Hopefully I can get to it soon!
They’re Not Like Us, Vol.1: Black Holes for the Young
Author: Eric Stephenson, Illustrator: Simon Gane, Jordie Bellaire
Publisher: Image Comics
Genre: General Fiction
Release Date: July 8th 2015
Page Count: 144
ISBN: 9781632153142
This is a series that has been sitting on my shelf for a little while now. I bought it at the same time that I purchased Saga Volume 1. I then became obsessed with Saga so I kind of accidentally forgot about They’re Not Like Us. I also haven’t heard too much about this one but the synopsis was intriguing!
East Of West, Vol.1: The Promise
Author: Jonathan Hickman, Illustrator: Nick Dragotta, Frank Martin
Publisher: Image Comics
Genre: Science Fiction, Fantasy
Release Date: September 11th 2013
Page Count: 128
ISBN: 9781607067702
I’ve heard a few things about East of West via Booktube, but once again I haven’t heard too much. I know the bind-ups for this series look amazing together and being a graphic designer, this may have been what appealed to me the most. The synopsis also seemed very interesting, so I’m excited to give this one a go!
Deadly Class, Vol.3: The Snake Pit
Author: Rick Remender, Illustrator: Wes Craig, Lee Loughridge
Publisher: Image Comics
Genre: Thriller, Dark
Release Date: October 7th 2015
Page Count: 128
ISBN: 9781632154767
Ahh, my favourite comic series of all time! I ate up Volume 1 & Volume 2 of this story like you wouldn’t even believe. The writing is phenomenal and extremely relatable which honestly kind of scares me, but you’ll just have to read it to find out why! I am eagerly anticipating this release unlike any other.
Outcast, Vol.2: A Vast & Unending Rain
Author: Robert Kirkman, Illustrator: Paul Azaceta
Publisher: Image Comics
Genre: Horror
Release Date: October 7th 2015
Page Count: 128
ISBN: 9781632154484
Outcast is another one that I am eagerly anticipating. I read Volume one and although it got mixed reviews, I really enjoyed it. I agree though that the story didn’t really peak and volume one felt like more of a set up for something bigger and better that is on its way with volume 2. Also, did you know this is also being turned into a television series? Four for you Robert Kirkman, you go Robert Kirkman.
Descender, Vol.1: Tin Stars
Author: Jeff Lemire, Illustrator: Dustin Nguyen
Publisher: Image Comics
Genre: Science Fiction
Release Date: September 24th 2015
Page Count: 160
ISBN: 9781632154262
Honestly, I haven’t heard much about this comic series. I was browsing through NetGalley and it was under the Read Now section so I decided, why not? The description sounded good and Brian K. Vaughan blurbed it so it must be worth it! It has been sitting on my NetGalley shelf for a little too long now so I think it may be time to read this one soon!
Nimona
Author: Noelle Stevenson
Publisher: HarperCollins
Genre: Fantasy
Release Date: May 12th 2015
Page Count: 272
ISBN: N/A
I’ve been hearing amazing things about Nimona around the book blogging community so when I spotted it for 30% off the cover price at the HarperCollins booth while at Fan Expo I knew I had to get it! It seems fun and quirky and I’m really excited to get into this Graphic Novel soon!
Fight Club #2, Issue #1.
Author: Chuck Palahniuk
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Genre: Fiction
Release Date: May 2015
Page Count: 34
ISBN: N/A
I’ve had my eye on this for a while now. I don’t usually buy single comic issues as I prefer the look and feel of volume bind ups, but I mean it’s FIGHT CLUB! The second I heard that this was even going to be a thing I was 100% into it. Then I realized that the release date was before Fan Expo took place! Good ol’ Fan Expo. I managed to find issue #1 and I should be reading this one very very soon so please do stay tuned!
The Sculptor
Author: Scott McCloud
Publisher: First Second
Genre: Fantasy
Release Date: February 3rd 2015
Page Count: 488
ISBN: 9781596435735
This has been on my radar for forever now and I keep putting off purchasing it because 1) it’s huge and 2) it’s on the expensive side of life. I’m waiting for a good deal to present itself before I dig into this bad boy. I’ve noticed a few people picking it up on Book Outlet, but 1) it was only on the American site and 2) it was sold out in about 5 seconds. Soon my friends, soon.
And there you have it! My top 10 comics and graphic novels on my TBR list! Do you read comics/graphic novels? Have you read any of the ones mentioned in this post? What comics/graphic novels are you the most excited to read that I haven’t mentioned? As always, thank you for reading!
I just got Volume One of Saga from my library today! I’m so excited to read it!!!

I’ve yet to venture into the world of comic books and graphic novels. I feel like they are way too pricey for me here in Estonia. I feel like, since I’m trying to start a book blog, that I need to get myself into these things as well because all kinds of story telling is always admirable and most of these sound awesome. Oh well, I think my wallet’s going to hate me but I might purchase one or two in the near future.

They are definitely a bit on the pricey side but there is also definitely some beautiful art and story telling!

PS: So jealous you saw Twenty One Pilots! I only recently discovered them but I have so many favorites from their latest album that it’s not even funny!

Oh man! That happened to me last year! I had recently discovered them and had just missed their concert! So when I heard they were coming back this year I jumped on those tickets so fast! They’re may favourite band and I even got some of their lyrics as my first tattoo! They are definitely worth seeing live!

I will most likely never see them live because I live in Estonia and well.. that’s just way out of their reach it seems like. I have to settle for those big big big artists that sometimes come by here.. I will see Imagine Dragons next year though, and I saw Ed Sheeran this year so I mean, I’m not complaining.

You never know! I know they’re doing some shows in Europe later this year! They’re starting to become more popular as well so hopefully one day you will be able to! 🙂

Though I can see it’s more or less UK where they will be in Europe.. not even close.. and I don’t see myself traveling to Germany either. Maybe next year!? 😀
