The third day of the convention, a.k.a. the busiest day falls on a Saturday. It is almost impossible to get any shopping done on this day as the show floor is completely packed which makes it really difficult to see what the vendors have to offer. Saturday is best for any photo ops, autographs or panels that you would like to attend because if you’re going to be standing around in a crowded place for countless hours, you might as well be in a line to see something or someone you love. See below for all of my purchases as well as celebrity encounters!
– Graphic Novels & Books –
I’ve been looking for The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Short Stories by none other than Tim Burton for a while now. I love Tim Burton and I consider him to be one of my biggest inspirations so when I finally found this book I knew I had to pick it up!
The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy
– Prints + Artist’s Alley –
I had no idea that Wes Craig, the illustrator of my favourite comic series Deadly Class, was going to be appearing in Artist’s Alley! Of course I had to get a signed print and I could not be any more happy with it!
– Panels & Celebrity Moments –
The moment I was anticipating the most the entire weekend was the opportunity to meet Malcolm McDowell, the star of one of my favourite cult classic films of all time, A Clockwork Orange. Obviously he has acted in much more than just that one film, but it is by far my favourite. I’ve been cosplaying as Alex Delarge for a while now and when I first heard he would be appearing at the convention I knew I had to meet him. The first thing I did as I arrived at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre was wander over to Mr. McDowell’s autograph table where I was able to get my A Clockwork Orange poster that I bought the previous year signed! Malcolm was an amazingly nice, funny and witty man who turned out to be everything I hoped and then some. I am so glad I was able to meet him and obtain his autograph which I will definitely be keeping FOREVER.
The magnificence of my experience with Malcolm McDowell didn’t end there though as I was also able to attend his photo-op session! As I walked up to him he remembered me from the autograph signing earlier that morning and was glad that I also showed up for the photo op! Oh yeah, did I mention I cosplayed as Alex Delarge? I’m in love with this photo.
– Collectibles –
I actually managed to do much more shopping than I originally anticipated, especially for a busy Saturday. I picked up some amazing things that I am extremely excited to have been able to find!
