There are so many great books that are being released this year so I decided to list out the books that I am personally the most excited about that will be coming out each month. Here you can find a list of the books being released in March that I am the most excited to read in no particular order!
Mosquitoland by David Arnold | Half Wild by Sally Green | Sex Criminals Vol.2 by Matt Fraction
Mosquitoland (Goodreads Synopsis): “I am a collection of oddities, a circus of neurons and electrons: my heart is the ringmaster, my soul is the trapeze artist, and the world is my audience. It sounds strange because it is, and it is, because I am strange.” After the sudden collapse of her family, Mim Malone is dragged from her home in northern Ohio to the “wastelands” of Mississippi, where she lives in a medicated milieu with her dad and new stepmom. Before the dust has a chance to settle, she learns her mother is sick back in Cleveland. So she ditches her new life and hops aboard a northbound Greyhound bus to her real home and her real mother, meeting a quirky cast of fellow travelers along the way. But when her thousand-mile journey takes a few turns she could never see coming, Mim must confront her own demons, redefining her notions of love, loyalty, and what it means to be sane. Told in an unforgettable, kaleidoscopic voice, “Mosquitoland” is a modern American odyssey, as hilarious as it is heartbreaking.
Why I’m excited: It just sounds so refreshing. I mean, can we also talk about that cover though? Beautiful.
Half Wild (Goodreads Synopsis): “You will have a powerful Gift, but it’s how you use it that will show you to be good or bad.” In a modern-day England where two warring factions of witches live amongst humans, seventeen-year-old Nathan is an abomination, the illegitimate son of the world’s most powerful and violent witch. Nathan is hunted from all sides: nowhere is safe and no one can be trusted. Now, Nathan has come into his own unique magical Gift, and he’s on the run–but the Hunters are close behind, and they will stop at nothing until they have captured Nathan and destroyed his father.
Why I’m excited: Half Bad was one of the best pleasant surprises I’ve read in a while. I picked it up on a whim as it was on sale for $5 and I definitely did not expect to love it as much as I did. I’m extremely excited to see where the story goes in this sequel!
Sex Criminals Vol.2 (Goodreads Synopsis): The second storyline from the Eisner-award winning SEX CRIMINALS finds the honeymoon to be over for Jon and Suzie. Once the thrill of new lust fades, where do you go? Come along and laff and love with Matt and Chip as they brimp back ceaselessly against the past. Collects SEX CRIMINALS # 6-10.
Why I’m excited: I read the first volume in about 45 minutes and I loved it! It was the first graphic novel I had read in a LONG time and it’s definitely responsible for sparking my interest in reading more graphic novels. Once again, I’m extremely excited to see where this story goes in the second volume!
That has been my top highly anticipated new releases for March 2015! I’ve already purchased and began reading Mosquitoland so you can look for a review in the not too distant future. I’ve also pre-ordered Half Wild which is super exciting! I still need to pre-order/purchase Sex Criminals, but I should be heading to Toronto comicon at the end of the month so we’ll see if I can get a good deal there!
Thanks for reading!
